Angelica “Lady*J*” Jones Raised in Chicago’s quiet Hyde Park community, Angelica ‘Jelli’ Jones was always known as outspoken. Never one to hold back her opinions she often got in trouble, never staying in a “child’s place” being mature for her age. The quiet of the storm hit when her parents divorced at age 12. Her parents seemingly unreachable, Angelica found comfort in her close friends and her journal. Angelica’s conversations with her peers and journal entries lead her to understand early on that everybody has a story and people need to be connected to people. In 2004 ,Angelica graduated from Whitney Young Magnet High School where she met one of her best friends, Glendon-Tyler Ashmon, not knowing what the universe would create for that friendship. After graduation, Angelica travelled to Virginia to study at Hampton University to pursue a career in Public Relations. While at Hampton University, Angelica’s grandmother, Johnnie Mae “Mama” Jones passed. Being very close to her grandmother, Angelica had difficulty regaining her focus. In 2006 Angelica made the decision to come back home, to Chicago and take time off from school to gain work experience. While working as an Editorial Assistant, through a mutual friend, she met Felicia ‘Lady O’ Owen. The two became best friends the rest, as they say, is history. “The Wonder Twinz” as they’d come to know themselves were always together, going to parties, enjoying being around opened minded people and picking brains. Having years of administrative experience and meeting a plethora of unsigned, local talent Angelica and Felicia always came up with great ideas to get this talent heard. This unsigned talent expressed thoughts and opinions that were socially conscious and reminiscent of the first, nearly lost, generation of hip-hop. Angelica and Felicia felt the local talent weren’t getting the “shine” they deserved. The “Twinz” never got the follow through needed from the “professionals” they pitched too. Tired of not being taken seriously, LadyLike Productions, Inc. and SpokenFree ENT. were created. Excited, Angelica and Felicia told their closest friends about their new endeavor. Glendon-Tyler, Angelica’s high school friend, expressed interest in joining the team of two. Knowing his unique talents, Angelica arranged a meet and greet for the whole group. Now they are all inseparable and unstoppable.

Born on New York’s Lower East Side in the Heart of Alphabet City, Felicia Owen, the lady we now know as “Lady *O*” emerged initially as a quiet but honest free spirit.  Opinionated but very mature at a young age, she used poetry as her outlet for her honesty which sometimes comes off as brash when spoken. Writing all the way through elementary school, she was published twice in the Anthology of Poetry.   During her 4 years at Saint Michael Academy H.S.- NY, she was given the opportunity to sing in the Elite Chorale, help organize & participate in every talent show the school had to offer, and in her senior year became the Senior Editor of The Poetry Club. After school, she was chosen by the Dean to be the receptionist for her high school every day where she got a chance to meet all of her SMA peers which helped her to network with her untapped outgoing personality, perseverance for success, and encouraging spirit.  When school was over, she would take various solo adventures on the crowded streets and subways of Manhattan and spread her personality around the city. It wasn’t until Felicia hit age 17, left the East Coast, and flew to Chicago to attend The Illinois Institute of Art, that she realized that her various talents could be used to create something epic.  Although, her academic journey still continues for her bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Felicia took the time off from school to get to know herself and what she wanted out of life.  Soon after meeting Angelica “Lady *J*” Jones through a mutual friend, they became instant best friends and she knew that her energy would inspire something life-changing. The dynamic duo, now known as “The Wonder Twinz”, couldn’t be separated if you paid them.  Every day, they were springing up new ideas of the future trying to create something that could change the world and give them a voice, and after a long journey of dead ends and trying to work with other people who called themselves “Professionals”, they just decided it was time to show the world what being “Professional” was all about.  Having had many an administrative position, running into so many talented artists in the Chicago scene, and those artists’ mixtapes not being given a chance to be heard by a commercial audience, LadyLike Productions Inc. and SpokenFree Ent. were born.

People always used to say that Felicia should be an “in the spotlight” type of individual, and she begged to differ until the perfect trifecta was formed with the addition of Tyler “The Gent” Ashmon and The LLP & SpokenFree Ent. Movement began.   She knew that even though she would prefer to be known behind the scenes rather than famous, that she would still have to make herself a more public figure to help the company & artists succeed quicker on her spare time… The Lady *O* Show was created on July 13, 2009.  The Lady *O* Show’s mission is to help local artists across the world have their voices heard by someone who critiques and listens to their music with an honest ear on the spot. Watching the history of Hip-Hop over the years from being an 80s baby herself, and realizing that Hip-Hop is in a state of disarray, Felicia a.k.a. “Lady *O*” intends to send out a message to the world about what Hip-Hop’s initial message was, is, and should be for years to come. The Lady *O* Show is now an outlet for The Next Generation of Hip-Hop to emerge from the shadows and is now giving an opportunity to that new wave of listeners and creators, the chance to flip the script on the many ridiculous idiosyncrasies now associated with the music of Hip-Hop culture. It is currently connecting with Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace users/artists through Ustream.com. The goal is to help Hip-Hop regain its respect on a Global Scale and trying to ensure that upcoming underground artists don’t fall by the wayside, constantly connecting real people to other REAL people. Everyone deserves a chance to be heard, and Lady *O* is definitely here to extend that opportunity to those who truly want it on her show. The one unified thought among herself and the rest of the LLP/SFE team is to work towards bringing Hip-Hop’s message back through establishing constructive criticism, breaking those negative stereotypes, and creating a new consciousness among fellow appreciators of the Hip-Hop culture.

Hailing from the south side of Chicago, Tyler “The Gent” Ashmon has always had one goal: to become successful by staying true to himself. With a plethora of passions, the path to achieving that goal was not always been clear for him. Following the blueprints laid by the likes of Sean Jay-Z Carter and the Wayans and the Knowles families, Tyler made up his mind that with hard work, integrity, and positive energy you can achieve your dreams.

From an early age Tyler “The Gent” Ashmon has been in the public eye. As a child he was an award winning writer and performer. By 14, Tyler had written a book and had a prolific songbook. While attending Whitney M. Young Magnet High School on Chicago’s south side, Tyler worked with playwright Kristiana Colon on multiple projects while serving as a Junior Marketing Representative for Mecca Menswear and as an on-air personality for New Expression, a teen-targeted and hosted television talk show. After high school, Tyler danced with Bad Boy Entertainment before enrolling in Columbia College Chicago, one of the nation’s premier performing and media arts schools. He has co-hosted community events featuring the likes of Kanye West, Common, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Huey.  In addition to serving as Director of Communication for SpokenFree Entertainment and its subsidiaries, Tyler is currently working on several writing projects including a play, a novella, and an album.

As an artist, an entrepreneur, and even as a man, Tyler holds respect of craft and integrity at the highest regard. This dedication to excellence and social responsibility serves as a binding tie in the partnership between he and his best friends/co-founders. In Tyler’s world, in fact, in a SpokenFree world artists take pride in being good at what they do just as much as they do in filling their pockets. Tyler’s goal is to spread “two fingers and one love” and he urges any and everyone who is dissatisfied with the recent, blatant irresponsibility of hip-hop to pick up a mic and start a revolution.
